Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your purchase and use of products from TrueStep HR. By buying or using a TrueStep HR product, you agree to these terms.
About the products
TrueStep HR sells digital HR products, including calculators, spreadsheets, templates, and kits. They are delivered as instant downloads. There is no physical product and no shipping.
Your license to use the products
Each purchase includes a license to use the product. A separate document, the TrueStep HR Product License, ships inside the products and sets out the full license terms. The summary below explains the standard terms. Where the Product License and these Terms differ on the scope of the license, the Product License controls.
Standard License (the default)
Unless your product page or receipt states otherwise, your purchase is a Standard License. Under the Standard License you may:
- Use the product for one business that you own or are employed by, for that business's own internal purposes.
- Open it on the devices used by that business, make backup copies, and edit the file to fit your own internal use.
Under the Standard License you may not:
- Resell, redistribute, share, lend, sublicense, or publish the original or edited files to anyone outside your business.
- Post the files, in whole or in part, on any website, marketplace, file-sharing service, or template library.
- Present the product as your own product for sale.
Products with a White-Label License
Some TrueStep HR products are offered with a White-Label License for HR consultants and similar professionals. When your product page or receipt states that a White-Label License applies, you receive the additional rights described in the TrueStep HR Product License, including the right to rebrand the product and deliver a configured copy to your own clients as part of your services. Even under a White-Label License, you may not sell or distribute the product as a standalone template or calculator, and you may not pass the rebranding or redistribution right itself to a client or any third party.
Intellectual property
TrueStep HR retains all intellectual property rights in its products, including content, layout, formulas, and branding. You receive a license to use the products, not ownership of them.
Materials are not professional advice
TrueStep HR products provide general business information and planning estimates only. They are not legal, tax, accounting, payroll, or pay-equity advice, and using them does not create any professional relationship. Laws, rates, and market data change and vary by location. You are responsible for confirming that any output fits your situation, and you should consult a qualified professional before making important decisions.
No warranty
The products are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TrueStep HR is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any decision made using a product. The total liability of TrueStep HR for any claim related to a product is limited to the amount you paid for that product.
Refunds
Purchases are covered by the TrueStep HR Refund and Returns Policy, including the 14-day money-back guarantee described there.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the store and the products lawfully, and not to attempt to disrupt, copy, or gain unauthorized access to the store or its systems.
Changes to these terms
TrueStep HR may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with its review date. Continued use of the store or the products after an update means you accept the updated terms.
Governing terms
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the state in which TrueStep HR operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
